• Tirzepatide (Brand names: Zepbound, Mounjaro): This medication is a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist, making it highly effective. It is a once-weekly injection.
  • Zepbound is FDA-approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or those who are overweight with a weight-related condition.
  • Mounjaro is FDA-approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes but is also used off-label for weight loss.
  • Studies have shown that people on the highest dose of tirzepatide can lose up to 21% of their body weight over 72 weeks.
• Liraglutide (Brand names: Saxenda, Victoza): This is another GLP-1 receptor agonist that requires a once-daily injection.
